Markers are sized to the cable, not the other way around. The reference dimension is outer diameter (OD), which AWG approximates for a given conductor and insulation.
Why format changes the math
- Heat-shrink is specified by recovered diameter and shrink ratio (2:1 or 3:1) — it must fit over the largest point before shrinking and grip the smallest after.
- Wrap-around labels are specified by the OD range the body and clear tail can wrap and self-laminate.
- Flag labels are specified by the adhesive zone that bonds to itself plus the flag area you need for data.
What to share for a quote
- Cable outer diameter (or AWG) and the range across your build.
- Whether you are marking before or after termination.
- The text or barcode you need each marker to carry.
Exact part-by-part OD and AWG ranges are listed per product as [FILL FROM TDS]. Send your range on the quote form and we will recommend a part.
